Via Remesina Esterna 27/A - Carpi (MO)

Ferrous Metals, Non-Ferrous Metals, Plastics, Hazardous substances

TRED Carpi S.p.A., located in Fossoli di Carpi, Modena, specializes in the treatment and recovery of all categories of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). The facility processes various types of WEEE, including:

R1: Cooling and Refrigeration Appliances: Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners.
R2: Large Household Appliances: Washing machines, dishwashers, ovens, and electric stoves.
R3: TVs and Monitors: Cathode ray tube (CRT) and flat-screen televisions and monitors.
R4: Small Household Appliances and Consumer Electronics: Small appliances, telecommunication devices, and photovoltaic panels.
R5: Lighting Equipment: Lamps and neon lights.
The company's operations focus on intercepting and decontaminating hazardous components while recovering materials for reuse in production processes. For instance, in cooling appliances, advanced technology is used to remove chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) from refrigerant circuits, substances known to deplete the ozone layer. The appliances are then dismantled to separate metals, plastics, rubber, and glass, followed by shredding in a controlled environment to recover CFCs/HCFCs used as blowing agents in insulating polyurethane foams.

In the case of electronic equipment, hazardous components are separated from recyclable materials through manual disassembly. Cathode ray tubes from televisions and monitors are cut and decontaminated by removing fluorescent powders adhered to the screen. Hazardous components are sent for controlled disposal, while useful materials are directed to specific recovery processes.

By implementing these processes, TRED Carpi S.p.A. contributes to environmental sustainability by ensuring the proper disposal of WEEE and the efficient recovery of valuable materials.
