Sogemont Raee S.r.l., located in Pisticci, Basilicata, is one of the few companies in southern Italy specialized in the recovery of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). The company is authorized for interim storage activities (R13) and recovery (R3, R4, R5) of special waste, both hazardous and non-hazardous, in compliance with current regulations.
Types of WEEE Treated:
Sogemont Raee manages various categories of WEEE, including:
R2: Large Equipment (Large white goods): Washing machines, dishwashers, hoods, ovens, and other large appliances.
R3: TVs and Monitors: Television sets and cathode-ray tube, LCD, or plasma screens.
R4: Computer and Telecommunications Equipment, Lighting Equipment, Small Appliances, and others: Computers, telephones, lighting devices, photovoltaic panels, and medical devices (excluding implanted and infected ones).
Recovered Materials:
Through the mechanical treatment of WEEE, the company recovers secondary raw materials, including:
Ferrous and Steel Scrap: Ferrous materials from large appliances and other equipment.
Aluminum Scrap: Aluminum components found in various electronic devices.
Copper Scrap: Including cables and other electrical components.
Glass from Monitors and CRT TVs: The recovered glass is validated according to ISO 14021 requirements and can be used, for example, as a road subgrade.
These materials, once recovered, are reintroduced into the market, promoting the circular economy and contributing to environmental sustainability.
Treatment Process:
The recovery plant of Sogemont Raee is equipped with three mechanical treatment lines and is accredited by the WEEE Coordination Center. Collaboration with the collective systems of producers ensures optimization in the collection, retrieval, and management of WEEE in Italy.
