Ferrous Metals, Non-Ferrous Metals, Plastics, Glass, Hazardous substances

Haiki Electrics S.r.l., located in Romano d'Ezzelino, Italy, operates a specialized facility dedicated to the treatment and recovery of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). The plant employs advanced mechanical processes to extract and recycle various materials from discarded electronic devices.
Materials Processed and Extracted:
Ferrous Metals: Recovery of iron and steel components from electronic equipment.
Non-Ferrous Metals: Extraction of metals such as aluminum and copper, commonly found in cables and electronic parts.
Plastics: Separation and processing of shredded plastic materials for recycling purposes.
Glass: Recovery of glass materials from cathode ray tube (CRT) devices and other electronic equipment.
Hazardous Substances: Safe handling and disposal of materials like heavy dust from monitors, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) Treatment:
Separation of Panel and Funnel Glass: CRT devices are dismantled to separate the panel glass (front) from the funnel glass (rear), allowing for targeted recycling processes.
Phosphor Coating Removal: The internal phosphor coating is carefully removed to prevent environmental contamination.
Disassembly of LCD Monitors and Electronic Equipment:
Manual and Automated Disassembly: Devices are disassembled to segregate components such as circuit boards, plastics, metals, and hazardous elements like mercury-containing backlights.
Component Segregation: Separated components are directed to appropriate recycling or disposal streams.
Refrigerator Treatment:
CFC Extraction: Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) are safely extracted from cooling circuits and insulating foams to prevent ozone depletion.
Material Separation: Post-CFC extraction, materials like metals and plastics are separated for recycling.
Mechanical Shredding and Sorting:
Shredding: WEEE is mechanically shredded into smaller fractions to facilitate material separation.
Magnetic Separation: Ferrous metals are extracted using magnets.
Eddy Current Separation: Non-ferrous metals are separated through eddy current separators.
Density Separation: Materials are further classified based on density to isolate specific fractions.
These processes are conducted in designated areas equipped for reception, storage, and internal maintenance, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to environmental standards.
